We celebrated Christmas early with Michael’s mother and step-dad.  They packed it all up and moved to the state of Washington on December 13th.  They moved to the coast and were immediately greeted by three straight days of snow.  They love it, and Mike and I can’t wait to visit.

Emery is growing so fast.  He is now 22 pounds and 3 ounces.  He is 31.5 inches tall and has 5 teeth.  He took is first steps on January 2nd.  He also took his first fall and landed in Urgent Care earlier today.  He is okay, but he busted his upper lip open (those new sharp teeth…) I guess I need to get used to it with a boy.

He is also waving, clapping, dancing and climbing all the time.  He loves all kinds of music, and he can now get onto one of our couches all by himself.  It is very scary.  His first New Year’s was uneventful, except that our whole family was sick.  He had not been sick yet, so we have been very lucky.  He caught a cold around Christmas, and started feeling really bad that following Sunday.  By New Year’s, he was better, but Mike and I both felt terrible.  I lost my voice on New Year’s day, and still haven’t found it!!

After the accident, the doctor told us to give him popsickles. So here he is with his first fudgesickle.

Emery is growing so fast.  He now pulls himself up on everything and crawls around like a maniac.  He also has two teeth, which he received on October 6th and 8th.  They are the bottom front, the right one was first.  We went to the zoo to go trick-or-treating on Sunday night.  He looked so cute, he was a sock monkey!!  He also had a little friend sock monkey to carry around with him.  He is just so happy and wonderful every day!  He is now sleeping from about 7:30 to 7:00, but tonight he fell asleep at 6:30!!  I wonder what time he will wake up….

In September, Emery and I went to my cousin Jamie’s wedding.  It was in New Jersey.  It was the first time I have been on the East Coast.  It was beautiful, and so was the wedding.  It was outside at a vineyard a few family away from Atlantic City.  My cousin was beautiful,a nd it was so nice to see the family again.  What else has happened?   I also went back to school, which is why I am very behind.  Everything is going well, I really do not enjoy calculas or physics.  I am excited to get these two classes out of the way, the rest will be much better classes.

So, more about Emery…  He is growing so quickly.  He was 16 pounds and 26.5 inches at his 4 month check up in the middle of June.  He was in the 95th percentile in height and 50-75th percentile for weight.  Tall and skinny, I wonder where he got those genes!!?  He has another appointment in 2 weeks, I wonder how much weight he has gained.  He has grown out of all his 6 month clothing, he is just too tall for them.  They don’t snap at the bottom.  Also, his footed pj’s are too little for his feet.  But the bigger clothes are too big around his legs and tummy.  He looks pretty cute in his new big clothes.  He has also started eating a few mushy foods.  He sticks to sweet potatoes and carrots right now.  I wanted to wait until he was older to really introduce solids, but he was ready to expand beyond milk.  So I gave in and let him taste some veggies.  He thinks it is fun, and is sleeping a little longer in the morning.  All of the sudden he started waking up at 5am after he had been sleeping until 7.  I read that might be because he was ready for more than milk, and so far, that has been proved true.  He is sleeping in until 6:30am now, and I really love that extra hour and a half of zzzzzzz’s!  After he turns 6 months, his doc said he will be ready for a better variety.  We have some pics of him in his high chair with food everywhere.

Emery’s newest development is that he is extremely close to crawling.  He scoots across our living room all day long.  He gets his knees up and takes two crawls.  But he does not know how to coordinate his arms yet, and he collapses.  Then he brings his legs up again.  He has his legs all ready, he just needs to teach his arms to listen.  I videotaped it last week, and I will have Mike add it to my next blog.

We are going on another trip next week to New Jersey for my cousin Jamie’s wedding.  This time I am not flying alone, so I am not as stressed about it.  I will have my parents and my siblings there to help me carry everything through the airport.

My last bit of news is that my friend Ashley from high school had her little one last Monday.  Between my friends and I, we have Emery who is almost 6 months, Ava who is almost 3 months, Jadyn who is newborn, and Jackson, who is due in 2 and 1/2 weeks.  I have some pics of the little ones, what a difference 3 and 6 months makes!!  They are growing so fast.  So far, Emery is the monster, born at 9 pounds.  Ava was 7 and 1 ounce, and Jadyn was 6 pounds 10 ounces.  We can’t wait to meet Jackson!

He is going through a growth spurt and he is eating like crazy and sleeping speradically. Usually his patterns are very predictible, so we are hoping this does not last long. But Emery is such a wonderful baby, we truely are so blessed to have such a good little boy. We also got him a new toy. One of those jumpers wth toys every where. Here is a video of him playing for the first time. He loves it so much.

Brandon’s sister Angela had a little boy named Levi on Emery’s due date (Feb. 29th) and is 3 days older than Emery.  Here they are, discovering each other.  My sister is holding Emery.

We also went out on Brandon’s boat, so Emery went on his first boat ride on the lake near White Oak, where Dawnelle and Brandon live. 

We had so much fun, and we miss Aunt Dawnelle already.  We get to see her again in September, we are all going out to New Jersy for my cousin Jamie’s wedding.  We can’t wait!

Emery and Naruto

I promised Michael I would post this picture.  He is a Naruto fanatic (an anime show from Japan) and he got this headband as a gift from a friend.  It was the first show Emery ever watched, and Michael watched it a lot.  Michael had shingles when Emery was 3 weeks old, and was not allowed to work or touch Emery at all for almost 2 weeks.  So Michael laid on the couch and watched this show.  We are happy that is over.  But, Emery looks so good with the headband on, so I promised Mike I would post this.
